Apprenticeship
Programs
Apprenticeships
are four-year* training programs consisting of on-the-job training and
related classroom instruction in which workers learn the practical and
theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation.
Machine trades apprenticeships are sponsored by individual
employers. Apprenticeship
programs can be registered by the state, which helps ensure the quality
of the training program. DTMA
encourages its members to establish state-registered programs to teach
the high-level skills required of workers to compete in a global
economy.
